Louis Arques has developed an eclectic musical career, performing as a clarinet soloist, conductor, orchestra principal, chamber musician, and leading ensembles as an artistic director and producer.
Below is a tour of his active projects, from classical to contemporary and Brazilian music.
Avalanche Orchestra
Founder - Artistic Director - Conductor
Avalanche and the non-for-profit organization Avalanche Arts were founded with the intention to utilize music and arts to serve intercultural exchanges: by fostering artistic creation beyond borders and stylistic boundaries, and offering people from all backgrounds unrestricted access to diverse concert experience and music-making opportunities.
BROOKLYN ORCHESTRA
Co Music Director - Assistant Conductor - Principal Clarinet
The Brooklyn Orchestra is a symphonic ensemble dedicated to new music, striving to focus on contemporary composers.
Created in 2015 by composer/conductor Olivier Glissant, BKO was conceived to fuse genres of music that rarely meet on the classical stage and to bring music from multiple cultures to the orchestral repertoire.

Bridget Kibbey, the "Yo-Yo Ma of the harp", has assembled an all-star cast merging folk, jazz, and classical idioms to celebrate one of history's grandest cultural migration stories and Nuevo Latino Luminaries. Starting with the baroque courts of Europe, adding in the rhythms of Western Africa, and mixing with the indigenous melodies of the Caribbean Coast, Bridget Kibbey (harp), Samuel Torres (percussion) and Louis Arques (clarinet) track the cross-pollination musical threads that create the ever-evolving songs and dances we love, alongside the folk masters that inspired them.
DiÁlogos duo
Clarinet - Bass Clarinet
Founded in 2016, Diálogos Duo features clarinetist/bass clarinetist Louis Arques and guitarist-composer Boukas-who has composed nine suites totaling one hundred movements– the largest body of contemporary Brazilian music for clarinet and guitar worldwide.

Piano on Park is NY-based non-profit organization committed to enriching the cultural fabric of New York City by creating new opportunities for musicians, performers and artists to connect with diverse audiences. Piano on Park's founder Cyrus Von Hochstetter and Louis Arques created Duo on Park, born from their musical collaboration and friendship.

Arzhi Duo
Clarinet
ARZHI DUO was created in 2018 by award winning pianist and composer Milena Zhivotovskaya and clarinet virtuoso Louis Arques to champion new music, including Zhivotovskaya’s own works.
In 2022, their acclaimed “Treasures of Jewish Art Music” program was featured in concert series across the Tri-State Area. New York Concert Review praised their “impressive unity” and ability to “take us through a narration of uneasily shifting moods with polish and ease”.

Arum Duo
Clarinet - Bass Clarinet - Saxophone
ARUM DUO is a highly virtuosic and poetic duo featuring international piano soloist Vladimir Rumyantsev and Louis Arques on clarinet, bass clarinet, and saxophone. Their recitals present rich and daring programs from Romantic to Contemporary music, including transcriptions from the great string and voice repertoire by Louis Arques.
